cholesterolgenetic testinghealth system

#1 Welcome in German health system! I finally had my lipid specialist appointment. Bottom line, they approved genetic testing but I have to wait another six months ... and it was approved only for familial hypercholesterolemia, not for PCSK9 or MTHFR mutations. They also did not approve a CAC or CT angio, only a carotid duplex

Small update, just been really busy and not very active lately.
Still waiting for my doc appointment, so no genetic testing done yet. But I did get another blood test. After 4 months on a 3-meals-a-day routine, my oxLDL has dropped by half, now. Also tested particle fraction. Solid pattern A, with only a few type 3 particles and zero in types 4–7.

Small update from my side. I think I really have a PCSK9 mutation, planning to get it tested. After two months of three meals a day, oxLDL dropped by 500 points! Will check again in 2-3 months, could be back to normal range. Triglycerides at 100 again after adding coffee back in after three months break. Coffee makes about 40pts difference for me.

Quick update on my TRGs: It seems that I was right after my last fast. My body overproduces TRGs and LDL when I'm not eating. After one month of eating three meals a day, my TRG dropped from 219 to 58, and my LDL from 331 to 149. OMAD doesn’t seem to work for me, so I’ll stick with three meals a day and one 48-72 hour fast each month.

One week after my dry fast, first lessons learned. I realized I was drinking too much water. Before, I had 1-2 electrolyte packs daily to control cramps. Now I drink less, no electrolytes, use less salt, and have no cramps. Tracking lipid and TRG numbers with some improvements, too. I will post an update soon. Blood test postponed to next week.
