Hi, I’m Kristeva Dowling — ketogenic diet coach, anthropologist, and author of Chicken Poop for the Soul, a book about the politics of food and how it shapes our health. My journey into wellness wasn’t a straight line. I had always enjoyed clear skin and good health — until one day, painful rashes and breakouts took over my face. Doctors and specialists told me it was "just rosacea" — incurable, unfixable, something I would simply have to live with. I asked if it could be connected to gut health. They said no. Over the next 7 years, I gained 60 pounds, lost my energy, and felt like a stranger in my own body. But I refused to accept that this was my new normal. Through deep research, self-experimentation, and a relentless search for answers, I landed in the carnivore community — where I finally started to heal. Thanks to the work of thought leaders like Dr. Sean O’Mara, Dr. Ken Berry, Dr. Anthony Chaffee, and others, I found the information I needed to truly reclaim my health. Rina’s podcast has also been a wealth of information and inspiration along the way, offering real-world insight and hope for those of us who were searching for more. By healing my gut and rebuilding my metabolism, I watched the weight fall off, the flare-ups disappear, and my vitality return. Now, through Modern Stone Age Wellness, I help others who are tired of being dismissed, misdiagnosed, or told they just have to "live with it." Because your body isn’t broken — the system is. If you're ready to reclaim your health and cut through the noise, you’re in the right place.

Over the next 7 years, I gained 60 pounds, lost my energy, and felt trapped in a body I didn’t recognize — all while being told to “just manage it.”

But I refused to accept that answer.
I dug deeper. Found carnivore and I changed everything.

My Story

I Was Told My Rosacea Was "Incurable." They Were Wrong.

I had always had clear skin — until one day, I didn’t. Painful rashes and breakouts took over my face.

Doctors and specialists told me it was “just rosacea” — incurable, unfixable, something I would have to live with.

I asked if it could be connected to gut health. They said no.

I have recently found a butcher who will make the canoe cut long bones for me. And I am craving them. So simple. So delicious. Salt and roast for 40 mins at 350. And eat straight out of the bone. Or, scoop it out and use it as a topping for ground beef or a steak. Yum!

To lose inches off my waist aka visceral fat. And starting tomorrow do the rest of the month full carnivore. I am a commercial mead maker (honey wine) and in bottling days cook for 15-20 people in our bottling line. So, this weekend was a Cinco De Mayo themed bottling day. I find it impossible to feed a crew and stay carnivore! Back to it tomorrow!

Hello Everyone,

My name is Kristeva and I am brand new to this group. Been dabbling in carnivore for almost a year now. I am struggling to do it well. I want to try the lion diet so I can get rid of another 20 lbs but am struggling with staying the course. Dairy (cream in coffee and cheeses of all kinds) is my weakness. Advice, suggestions??
