GoCarnivore uses the "Boer Formula," "Hamwi Formula," BMI, and Katch-McArdle Equation to calculate your target weight and required protein.
To enable these calculators, please enter your age, weight, height, gender, and exercise level by visiting Menu > Profile.
Once you complete your profile, the target weight, daily protein, and calories you need will be displayed on the Home page.
How to use these numbers
These numbers should work for 99% of people to get started. However, feel free to ignore them and use other calculations if you prefer.
Target weight
The target weight shown is what you ideally want to achieve over time. Depending on your current weight, it may take a few weeks or even over a year to get there. In the Carnivore Diet, the priority is healing, then weight loss. We do not recommend quick weight loss solutions as they are not sustainable.
Daily protein
If you are starting the Carnivore Diet, ensure you get enough protein each day. Remember, 1 gram of protein is not equivalent to 1 gram of meat. You can attend one of our Carnivore coaching events to learn more or search "How to measure your protein intake" on Google.
Daily calories
We do not advocate for calorie counting. As long as you are consuming the right foods (and the right ratio of protein to fat), you do not need to count calories. However, if you notice something not working for you, you may want to consider this number as the final aspect of your weight loss journey.
